about
At the heart of this song is a message of non-violence, to act with "words" and with "heart". Written originally as a reaction to the 2011 England Riots, its message could be applied beyond that event. "Stand & Fight" contains a message of hope, to inspire us all to join up and rebuild what others feel the need to tear apart.
lyrics
Lyrics:
How do you know when a system's breaking down, yeah?
When can you tell that a virus like violence has your town?
And how could they take from those they don't even know?
The pain, the stain, it leaves on the soul,
no, no, no, we've got so far to go
But we'll stand and fight,
through the night if we have to,
we'll stand and fight,
for what's right, we'll fix what's wrong,
we'll use words and we'll use heart,
to rebuild what they tore apart.
We'll stand and fight.
Just something I've noticed:
many people are kind
in the face of catastrophe,
see their writing on walls
says: "I give you my all"
It's a thousand words from graffiti, but I see
traits of greed and safehouses too,
it got him and he'll get you,
so I say to myself
oh no, no, no, we've got so far to go
But we'll stand and fight,
through the night if we have to,
we'll stand and fight,
for what's right, we'll fix what's wrong,
we'll use words and we'll use heart,
to rebuild what they tore apart.
We'll stand and fight.
Is this everything, everything we work for?
For a thousand years or more?
There's tears and tea and biscuits
and fears from all the misfits so
no, no, no, we've got so far to go
But we'll stand and fight,
through the night if we have to,
we'll stand and fight,
for what's right, we'll fix what's wrong,
we'll use words and we'll use heart,
to rebuild what they tore apart.
We'll stand and fight.
