about
"Cherry Sweet" was written as a simple song about enjoyment and fun and not letting the little things in life bring us down. It started out with just my ukulele and vocals but soon evolved to have a larger big-band type sound. I used things like my parents' old honky tonk piano, a collection of penny whistles and recorders as well as Caribbean steel drums in parts. Special thanks goes to the musicians at L.A.'s Studio Pros who played the brass instruments.
lyrics
Lyrics:
Outside it is raining
But you're inside so quit complaining,
You don't know how lucky you are.
Outside dark is the night,
But inside you've your electric lights,
You don't know how lucky you are.
So the shower leaks a little bit,
And your shelves are often bare,
Well there's no water shortage, baby,
You'll find food elsewhere,
Though the tap drips and the door sticks
I'm sure that you can handle it 'cos
Outside it is raining
But you're inside so quit complaining,
You don't know how lucky you are.
Outside dark is the night,
But inside you've your electric lights,
You don't know how lucky you are.
So the grass you keep ain't emerald green
And the fruits you grow go bad,
Well you could bake a cake
And make the Cherry Sweet...
Then buy yourself a helpin' hand,
Yeah roofs leak and stairs creak
But I think that we can handle it,
I'm sure that we can handle it 'cos
Outside it is raining
But you're inside so quit complaining,
You don't know how lucky you are.
Outside dark is the night,
But inside you've your electric lights,
You don't know how lucky you are,
You are, you are, you are...
Outside it is raining
But you're inside so quit complaining,
You don't know how lucky you are.
Outside dark is the night,
But inside you've your electric lights,
You don't know how lucky you are.
